A Message from the President

Hello. My name is Aaltje Bos. I´m from the Netherlands, and I´ve been a Rotarian since 2006.

I´m thrilled to be this year´s President and hope that I am leading and motivating our club, and making sure that our members feel valued, inspired, and connected to each other.

The International Rotary Club of Oulu, the only English speaking club in the region, was established in 2006. Our club includes people with international experience.  We are committed to helping new members settle in and to providing a setting that taps into passion, explorative zest, and enthusiasm.

Together with our partners we focus on humanitarian service local and international level, and promote integrity and goodwill.

Anyone who would like to see what Rotary is doing, please join us on a Monday evening for lively discussions, learning, fun activities and coffee while linking up with people who are committed to achieving our goals. Within the Oulu International Rotary Club, curiosity and enquiry come first and a diversity of ideas is embraced.

As a health care professional, I would like to draw attention to the international Rotary ‘Polio Plus’ project this year. While polio is a distant memory for many in the western world, the disease still exists, for instance in Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, threatening especially the most vulnerable children. The Rotary goal is to treat every last child with polio vaccine and to ensure a polio-free world for future generations. If you are interested in joining us in the overall effort to eradicate polio worldwide, please get in touch.

I´m excited about meeting with you and discussing how you can both have fun and contribute to our activities.

Aaltje Bos, President OIRC 2017-8
