In his talk "Recent developments in terrorism" professor Suistola sketched the ancient history of terrorism and described its roots which in his analysis are almost always connected with some sort of marginalisation. This point was illustrated by several examples of well-known terrorist leaders including Osama bin Laden. Professor Suistola's personal contacts in his university (Near-East University, Cyprus, where he is vice-rector and professor of history) gave him an exceptionally intimate view to the topic.
